Did you know that Gainesville has the World’s Largest Tiger Statue?
The world’s largest tiger statue is eight feet tall, 14 feet long, and weighs over a ton. It was sculpted by Greg Johnson in 2013, and represents Brenau University’s “Golden Tiger” mascot. It was paid for by Ike Belk, the 90-year-old former head of a department store chain, who never attended Brenau University but who liked its sports teams. Brenau reciprocated by giving Belk an honorary doctorate.
