Lots of fun hikes, paddles and educational events at Don Carter Park

The newest Lake Lanier campground is Don Carter State Park, at the very northern end of the lake on the Chattahoochee River not far from Clermont, Georgia.

Camping on Lake Lanier at Don Carter State Park is the ideal way to spend a few days or your summer vacation away from the daily grind.

Tent camping isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.  Tell your spouse you want to camp out under the stars (or inside your spiffy tent) and you might hear,

“Oh!  That sounds like fun!  Have a good time!  I’ll be at the mall.  Call me, if wild animals don’t get you.”

Park your recreational vehicle near the lake or rent a cabin large enough for friends and family.  There’s plenty of room for your boat and plenty of fish in the lake.

Don Carter State Park has 64 Campsites:

  • Campsite with Electricity:  44 RV Campsites
  • Cottages:  8
  • Picnic Shelters:  4
  • Primitive Camping:  12

The sandy white beach at Don Carter State Park

Don Carter State Park is wild and free with plenty of sidewalks that meander all over the park.

Set for a spell at the spectacular white-sand beach, if you get tired or if you just want to catch some rays.

Yes, you can even swim or play in the water.

Fishing is popular too.  There’s a handy family-friendly fishing pier where you can take see what will bite your bait.

Got a boat?  Launch it quickly and easily … with plenty of parking for your trailer.
