According to Cpl. Eddie Tompkins with the Department of Natural Resources “Alcohol is the number 1 cause of most accidents on Lake Lanier.” Just remember, not only are you putting yourself at risk, but you are also putting others in danger.
KNOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
Just as it’s important to know the rules of the road when driving a vehicle on roads and highways, it’s equally as important to know the rules of the water when operating a boat. Rules and regulations can be found at www.georgiawildlife.com/boating/regulations
USE NAVIGATION LIGHTS
At dark your boat becomes almost invisible to other boaters and they may not see you until it’s too late. So before the sun goes down, ensure that your navigational lights are in working order!
