We are so excited to host the artists who are part of The Traveling Show – a collaboration of the Georgia Council for the Arts, Living Walls and gloATL. Coming to Gainesville and Lake Lanier next week, The Traveling Show will feature a wall mural painting project, gallery exhibit and live installations of performance art.
Kicking off the event, Argentinian painter, Jaz will breathe new life into the finish tower at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue with a dynamic wall mural. Come out and see his work in progress, bring a lawn chair and witness art come alive right before your eyes.
On Thursday, October 24th, Inspiring Georgia – an exhibit of 28 master works from the Georgia State Art Collection will be on display at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. The exhibit coincides with the Quinlan’s very popular Annual Members’ Exhibition. During the opening night event, gloATL will present a live installation of performance art. A must see!
On Friday, October 25th, gloATL will perform “Mapping” from the Gainesville Square to The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center where they will conduct an Artists’ Talk with their colleagues from Living Walls. The lecture – Collaboration as Salvation will focus on public art in communities and how project like The Traveling Show work to bring people together.
The Traveling Show: Gainesville will end on Saturday, October 26th at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue with the big reveal of our wall mural by Jaz. During the reveal, gloATL will perform their last public performance art piece. Grab a dinner plate from Johnny’s BBQ or bring your own picnic.
