Live music is a big part of the upcoming Pet Fest September 25-26th at Laurel Park just north of Gainesville. This family friendly event will feature a host of events, exhibits, vendors and activities for all ages. Spectators are encouraged to bring their licensed pets to the park for the event.
Dixie Dock Dogs Regional Diving Competition with over 200 competing canines, Sheep and Duck Herding demonstrations, pet-friendly games and related sevice vendors showcased. Music, food vendors and the Northeast Georgia Mountains YMCA Kids Zone all on the shores of Lake Lanier at Laurel Park.
The headlining act on Sunday to wrap up PetFest is Georgia native, Grammy Award winning folk singer Amy Ray. Amy is an American singer-songwriter and member of the well-known contemporary folk duo Indigo Girls. Ray was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia and went on to begin college at Vanderbilt University. After a year at Vanderbilt, Ray returned to the Atlanta area to continue her education at Emory University. Ray graduated from Emory in 1986 with majors in English and Religion. She currently lives in the foothills of North Georgia.
