Elachee Joins the Alternative Energy Movement with the debut of the “E-House”

The Elachee E-House video was produced by Carter Cagle and the Elachee Nature Science Center.

We celebrated the opening of the “E House”, a teaching facility that demonstrates sustainable building practices and alternative energy options. The 12-foot x 20-foot one-room building is a feature of Elachee’s new “All About Energy” program for students. Included in its design are solar panels, high r-value insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, a “green roofing” system, and specialized landscaping that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental water. The debut took place on Earth Day, April 22, 2013.
Our thanks to the many partners who helped construct and support Elachee’s “E-House” especially Rick Foote from Hall County EnviroShare project.  This unique “house” demonstrates alternative energy and sustainable building practices.  Take a minute view this quick video about the project produced by Carter Cagle of Johnson High School.

Check out other “green” activities and options in our local Hall County area.
